Granton Gala at The Forthquarter Park
By The Forthquarter : 20 Jun 2008
The large open spaces at The Forthquarter Park make it an ideal venue for community events and Ross Bell, Community Development Coordinator for Granton Churches is one of the first to book his spot.
Ross has been working hard to help new residents settle in to their new homes and become part of the community. Knowing that Gala days and Fetes help bring people together and discovering that Granton no longer held a Gala, Ross approached National Grid Property and asked to use the Park to host a gala event on Saturday 23 August 2008.
“We were delighted when Ross asked us to host the Granton Gala. The Forthquarter Park was designed to merge the existing and emerging communities and to open up access to the waterfront. Although we are not quite there yet we are doing everything we can to achieve our goals. This event will allow people to take a look at what has been created. It is a wonderful place, it is for everyone and everyone should enjoy it,” said Mark Rylance of National Grid Property.
“The August Gala is an great opportunity for people to meet each other, have a great time and explore the new development and we’re more than happy to host and support use of the park for the benefit of the wider community”.
“The Park’s large green spaces are ideal for smaller outdoor events and we hope that more people will take note. Who knows we might just stimulate enough interest to encourage future Fringe and Festival organisers to investigate the potential opportunities at this end of Edinburgh’s waterfront “ added Mark.
